Teacher Development Workshops |
The Foundation already has a track record of conducting
successful teacher training, having conducted a National
Endowment for Humanities-funded workshop for teachers using
nationally renowned historians, and having led several
in-service training sessions for area teachers. In the
future the Foundation will conduct annual summer workshops
featuring leading scholars and aimed at training teachers
in the use of our educational website. At least some of
this training will be held on-site at the Center. Teachers
will earn continuing education units by participating in
these programs.
The programs/workshops under development
will consist of: |
- Guest historian lecturers
- Website training
- The use of primary and secondary sources in the study of history
- Teaching the Civil War from three perspectives: Union, Confederate, African-American
- A supplementary series of published monographs on key aspects of the Civil War, its causes and legacies.
