Educational Programming
The American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar is an 8.3 acre educational campus built among the ruins of the Tredegar Iron Works. It is home to our landmark exhibit
In the Cause of Liberty,
housed in the 1861 Tredegar Gun Foundry, and the Richmond National Battlefield Park Visitor Center.
In keeping with our mission, education programs are designed to expand the critical thinking skills of students through a variety of innovative and participatory programs. Students will explore the era of the Civil War and its many legacies through artifacts, exhibitions and hands-on activities.
All program curricula support
Virginia’s Standards of Learning and are conducted either on site or in the classroom.
Starting this year, we are partnering with the National Park Service to present a wide variety of educational programming.
