Ironclads! New Program! 
The epic battles between Civil War ironclad ships forever changed the face of naval warfare around the world. Students will explore the roles that sailors, marines, and "powder monkeys” played while serving aboard these technologically advanced vessels. View a PowerPoint presentation of the 1862 battle between the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia (Merrimac) and discover how Richmond and the Tredegar Ironworks were directly involved in this aspect of the struggle.
